The Editor reported his activity on revising ISO/IEC 9573-11 to ITSIG (Information Technology Strategies Implementation Group) meeting in Oct. 2001 in order to make appropriate harmonization with the actual document operation in ISO CS. Responding the report and other related discussions, ITSIG concluded the following resolution:
Resolution 6. XML
ITSIG,
noting the summary report on current and future use of XML (agenda item 8.2, ITSIG 06/2001), confirms the need for action in the XML field and expresses its strong support of extending activities in this area and, bearing this in mind:
- asks the STADIST project leader, assisted by ISO/CS, to prepare revised terms of reference for the STADIST project in order to cover extensively the definition of standards' metadata to be based on the existing ISONET manual, as well as on other specifications used by industry groups;
- congratulates JISC and Dr. Komachi for the work achieved so far, proposes that he maintain the leadership and, with the assistance from ISO/CS, progress with experimenting the use of XML DTDs and new authoring tools within a small group of volunteers from SCs of JTC 1;
- asks ISO/CS to organize in 2002, an ISO/ITSIG XML workshop aiming at exchanging views and experiences among the various groups working on XML developments in ISO. The workshop may be open to representatives from industry groups and consortia, depending on the programme that will be finalized.
The Editor plans to create the 1st working draft of ISO/IEC 9573-11 Edition 2 which has the following structure:

DTR text (2002-05-22) to
The 1st edition of ISO/IEC TR 9573-11:1992 was published in 1992-09-15. Considering the actual works in the ISO system for standard development, the TR was modified to be the "ITSIG exchange DTD" by activities of the SGML group of ISO/ITSIG (Information Technology Strategies Implementation Group).
Responding to the user requirements for interchanging standards documents in XML environment, ITSIG instructed its XML project to develop XML DTD being based on the SGML DTD.
This 2nd edition of ISO/IEC PDTR 9573-11 includes both the SGML and XML DTDs. The clauses except 2, 13, Annex C, D, E are almost identical to the corresponding clauses of "ITSIG exchange DTD, version 0.93, 1998-03-03".
